GALAXY VERSUS WHITECAPS MATCH POSTPONED UNTIL NOVEMBER
VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in conjunction with Los Angeles Galaxy, announce today that the exhibition match between the Galaxy and Whitecaps on October 3 has been postponed until November. An exact date will be confirmed once the Galaxy’s schedule for November is firmly established following the club’s run to the 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs.
“Galaxy’s star midfielder David Beckham sprained his right knee last week and will not be fit in time for the October 3 match day,” said Bob Lenarduzzi, Vancouver Whitecaps President. “Both the Whitecaps and Galaxy remain extremely committed to making the match a spectacular event and look forward to finalizing a date which works in the best interest of our fans. All tickets for the October 3 date will be honoured and once a date is confirmed, any patron whose schedule conflicts is asked to contact the Whitecaps office.”
Beckham sprained his Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) last week in the SuperLiga final against Pachuca of Mexico. He is currently receiving regular treatment.
“The Los Angeles Galaxy are committed to working with the Whitecaps to solidify a date for November and our entire organization is looking forward to a great event in Vancouver,” said Tom Payne, Los Angeles Galaxy Assistant General Manager.
Vancouver Whitecaps conclude their regular season this weekend at Swangard Stadium. Tonight the Caps host Atlanta Silverbacks at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, they will battle Portland Timbers in a special 4:00 p.m. kick off. Single game tickets start at just $16 and are available at all Ticketmaster Ticket Centres, on-line at ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 604.280.4400.
